Hype surrounding the launch of the Ministry of Sounds outpost in Malaysia had begun months prior to its opening, such was the anticipation of having a new international status club on these shores. Then came details of the location – Sunway.

Out in the ‘burbs, that would mean no club/bar hopping and presumably a Subang and PJ crowd. Taking the party out of town and expanding the club scene beyond the city limits is definitely commendable, but it was clear that Euphoria would have to have big things lined up to compete with the draw of the big city lights and on special nights they certainly hit that mark.

Opened on 26 June 2008, and unveiled to the public on July 2, Euphoria is designed by an international team. Panning out in a circular form that can accommodates up to 1000 people across 2 floors, and has access to a mezzanine area and private suites there’ll be a whole lotta partying to be done. The twin-scene layout is further complemented by 2 state-of-the-art vibrating dance floors and 7 days a week lineup, guarantees punters a choice of music with plenty of bounce. The Deq with its outdoor lounge area, accommodates another 500 and provides an early evening Balearic vibe. 

Apart from its location, Euphoria’s talking point has been its non-smoking status. A bold move on the part of club management, JUICE relishes the possibility of going home with our eyeballs intact and our hair not smelling of fag ends. With the smoking room, which accommodate around 20s described by a random punter as a ‘hell room’ it won’t be long ’til smokers come around. And provided the cost of fuel doesn’t go up, you might not be able to hold back die -hard city slickers either. It is definitely worth the trek. J

Clientele The suburban party brigade, college collective and professional partygoers.

Music policy Upstart DJs like Ian Ross, Victor G, Nesh, Ssense and Miami mash up supremo Patrick Oliver are onboard and captain a music policy that throws up everything but the kitchen sink. It’s house and hip hop to techno and open format, 7 days a week.
Monday Pop! goes radio gaga over chart toppers at The Deq.
Tuesday Also at The Deq, Paradise54 is Paradise Garage meets Studio 54 in a rewind to the 70s and 80s for New York Disco classics.
Wednesday Euphoria wakes up to Milkshake, a trademark MOS night of hip hop, crunk, reggaeton and grime with DJ Nesh an DJ Ssense, while Patrick Oliver and Victor G get Frisky for sexy vocal house at The Deq.
Thursday Patrick Oliver whips up a Mixtape of nu rave to hip hop for some funky fresh flava in Euphoria, just as Victor G and guests implore you to Save The Robots with a soundtrack of experimental music down at The Deq.
Friday Moving into the weekend, Victor G voyages into the dark side of the 4:4 beat, exploring house, minimal, prog, techno, trance and bassline at Euphoria’s Move, while infamous MOS urban club night, Smoove gets a rework courtesy of Nesh and Ssense at The Deq.
Saturday It all culminates tonight when Patrick Oliver plugs into Electro Ballroom and gets the Euphoria wired up on electro through to jackin’ house. At The Deq, Nesh and Ssense blitz a cocktail of r ‘n’ b, rock, indie, retro, funk at Fluid.

Open Mon-Tue: 9pm-1am; Wed-Sat: 9pm-3am.

Door policy RM20 Sun-Tue, RM40 Wed-Thu and RM50 Fri-Sat, inc. 1 drink, but if you hit The Deq bef. 10 Wednesday through Saturday you get to slip past the bouncers and into Euphoria without cover. Admission is strictly for aged 21 years and above and there’s a no smoking policy enforced except in the designated smoking area located on Euphoria’s 2nd floor and outdoor at The Deq.

Happy hour The Deq is open 5pm-9pm, Mon-Sat and 4pm-9pm Sun for Happy Hours.

Eats A club dedicated to the dancefloor, you want food, step outside. Sunway Lagoon Resort Hotel is next door and Sunway Pyramid Shopping Centre ain’t too far off either.
