Curbing The Consumption Of Shark Fin Soup!
by Marney Beliveau on Thursday, 9th December 2010Shark fin soup- a long time delicacy in Hong Kong and China. But few know how the precious fin for the soup is acquired. Sharks are caught, fins sliced off, then tossed back into the ocean to die, not only threatening the existence of sharks, but the ocean’s entire ecosystem. It’s estimated that 73 million sharks are killed a year for their fins, Hong Kong alone accounting for 50 to 80% of the shark fin trade, but thankfully there’s a growing movement against it. Enter Green Sense….
Recycling Made Easy
by Marney Beliveau on Friday, 22nd October 2010A new crime fighting duo are here to clean the streets of KL, more than just metaphorically. Greggers Reimann and Matthias Geilber, also known as the Eco Warriors, want you! - to recycle. They have a plan to make recycling accessible and easy for condos and apartments. They say it’s a win-win-win situation, as well as little work or effort involved. Doing good whilst exerting the least amount of effort and energy? It may sound too good to be true, rest assured it’s legit. Check out the details below.

I Am Not Food!
by Muna Noor on Wednesday, 17th March 2010Yesterday we posted several Tweets online regards the comments by Veterinary Services Department (VSD) deputy director general Dr Ahmad Suhaimi Omar on stray dogs and their suggested consumption by exotic meat eaters to curb overpopulation at pounds. As expected our Tweets prompted a lot of very angry responses. @muffinmctuffin said “that’s just fucking ridiculous!” @absolutelyfuzzy called it “so sick” and @jaclynelisha used some colourful expletives. So we promised to post the deets in full and provide address to where you can send your letters of protest.

Banksy
by Raphael Westwood on Friday, 15th January 2010
Heard of Banksy before? He is a world renown British graffiti artist. He has become a sort of media icon for his artwork which is worth a lot of money though that is not the reason Banksy does his art or why he is famous. The reason why his art is famous is because of its rebelious nature as its mostly if not always about ridiculing about politics, culture and ethics as he finds them hypocritical. [more »]
Ink, Not Mink
by Miranda Yeoh on Saturday, 12th December 2009
Chester Bennington just got a little more appealing today. He came onto the music scene in the beginning of the noughties with band Linkin Park (a minus 1 gold star in my books) and although it was rap rock/nu metal/alternative metal - whatever, Chester really showed he had mad powerful screaming skills. Although (in my opinion) he was in the wrong genre, he deservedly earns 1 gold star for them screams. The past few years though, Chester seems to be looking more and more attractive (+1 gold star) what with tattoos on his body (+1 gold star), his very short but funny cameo appearance on Crank 2 (+1 gold star) and finally now his latest participation in an anti fur ad (+1 gold star). Yes ladies, Chester is stripping down for PETA for their latest ad ‘Ink, Not Mink’. Sexay.
