LISTEN: Geographer’s ‘Need’

It’s been three years since we’ve heard the full-length release from San Francisco band Geographer, insert third LP Ghost Modern, which sees an imminent release within a few weeks. The band dropped ‘I’m Ready‘, a synth-tinged track that’s rife with violin strings, as the new album’s lead single but we much prefer the follow-up ‘Need’. From the get go, it already sounds like a totally different song; it leans towards rock with a lumbering drum that grounds lead singer Micheal Deni’s soaring vocals. The song winds down before it goes off into a chorus where the vowels of “Need your love” gets drawn out to full effect, almost resembling a spiritual chant.
