Whilst the Bristol artist’s works have always centred around the themes of morbidity and death, rest assured that Damien Hirst’s latest collaboration with Marc Jacobs does not involved the end of any lives, but instead the celebration of a life that’s close to 90 years old.
The Disney character is synonymous to kids and those who are still kids at heart since its first appearance in 1928. Hirst recaptures the spirit of happiness and joy of being a kid with his favourite Disney icon, with an artwork of his unique representation of Mickey Mouse. The interpretation is made up of the basic elements of a few simple spots that despite its minimalistic style, is still instantly recognisable as such a universal and powerful icon to all.
The limited edition t-shirt is available exclusively from Other Criteria and Marc Jacobs stores with 2,500 units available in white and black, and in both adult and children’s sizes. All proceeds from the sales will be donated to Kids Company, a UK charity organisation Hirst has long supported.
