French Horn Rebellion: Funky Disco Stardust

Posted March 16th, 2010 at 9:00 am by Ben Liew

Currently supporting Hot Chip, French Horn Rebellion are 2 brothers from Brooklyn that mix the quirkiness of nu dance bands like MGMT with a classic 70s disco flair. While their synth pop, white funk and electro rock might not be something new, it’s still one of the better indie dance tracks JUICE has heard in a while, pawning even Empire of the Sun. With additional input from dance producers Database, ‘Beaches And Friends’ sounds radically different from other FHR tracks. But it best exemplifies the duo’s ability to meld old with new while sprinkling a little stardust for that glowsticks-in-the-air appeal.
