Tindersticks: Falling Down A Mountain (4AD)

Posted March 15th, 2010 at 9:00 am by Ben Liew

The 8th studio album by this Brit folk-lounge, jazz-soul hybrid is as interesting as easy listening can get. Apart from a snoozing title track opener that drones on for 6½ minutes, the rest of Falling Down is full of playful moments and lounge-y romance. At times the band’s warm sound, tender vocals and additional instruments like harmonicas might remind you of something from a bygone era–even when the subject of the song is something as silly like ‘Peanuts’.

Listen to: ‘Harmony Around My Table’
If you like this you’ll dig: Beta Band, The Walkabouts, The Black Heart Procession, Lambchop, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Arab Strap
