Molek FMVIDEO: The xx Goes Full Americana with ‘On Hold’

Currently, The xx has shared two songs from their much-awaited third album I See You, which is set for release on 13 January ’17. The lead single, ‘On Hold’, receives a music video directed by British photographer Alasdair McLellan starring the trio and model Ali Michael – a familiar face you’ve surely seen on Instagram, at least. The music video has a retro haze of youth much like a Gus Van Sant film. And it sees clips of young people having fun; Ali Michael and her beau making out and the ubiquitous person put on hold on the phone as a literal interpretation of the lyric, with Oliver Sim singing in despair as the words go, “When and where did we go cold? I thought I had you on hold.”
